How Can I Engage My Students Right From the Beginning of Class

20 Minute Trainer

When the bell rings to start class, are your students in their seats and working or are they chatting with friends while you take roll, hand back papers, and manage students returning from an absence?

If your lessons emerge out of chaos, it’s time to think about capturing your students’ attention for learning during those crucial first minutes of class.

Those first few minutes of class are prime learning time, yet many teachers lose this opportunity dealing with maintenance activities and stragglers. Inside the School’s 20 minute trainer How Can I Engage My Students Right From the Beginning of Class will give you strategies to use the first few minutes of class effectively to engage students. The strategies will help your students learn from the moment the bell rings. In just 20 minutes, you will learn practical bell ringer activities and ways to efficiently handle tardies and paperwork.

Presenter Suzanne Tingley gives you five bell-ringers that will assist you in engaging students’ minds in an activity that will relate to and reinforce the lesson. In this 20-Minute Trainer, you’ll have new ideas to involve students early and boost subject matter recall.
