How Can I Keep My Students Focused During Group Work?

20 Minute Trainer

Employers say time-and-time again that working in a team environment to solve a problem is one of the most important skills they look for. As an educator, it’s your responsibility to prepare students for this real word situation. Working in groups is part of the learning process and the more – and better – students do this, the more they will improve their learning experience.

Educator Suzanne Tingley’s 20-Minute Trainer How Can I Keep My Students Focused During Group Work? will provide you the dos and don’ts for productively overseeing group projects.

How Can I Keep My Students Focused During Group Work? includes discussion of an academic rubric that can be used for every group work session. The academic rubric can be applied to all classes and clearly defines group member expectations, behavioral expectations and achievable standards. The rubric will guide the students focus away from their grade and rather onto their performance, which enhances their learning experience.
